Normal Distribution

Data varies accordingly and will spread out in different ways. A normal distribution is represented as symmetrical bell shape and important for determining real value from random variables. Over time, the values will reach infinity and gradually, the curve will collapse towards the gravity or becoming squeezed. A normal distribution is comprised of mean, median and mode and symmetry points lies within the center of 50:50 value on either sides.

Using Standard Deviation informs how spread out the numbers are, generally the standard deviations tend to be as follows:

  • 68% are values within the 1 standard deviation mean
  • 95% are values within the 2 standard deviations
  • 99.7% are values within the 3 standard deviations

An expression of this can be found in the illustration below.
